Spalding Faces Water Supply Crisis with Third Burst Main

Residents and businesses in Spalding are grappling with ongoing water supply issues as engineers address a third burst main in the area. This latest incident has left some customers without water for more than 24 hours, compounding the challenges faced by the community.
The initial problems, which affected Haverfield Road and Winsover Road, have now been resolved, providing some relief. However, the discovery of a new burst main near the junction of St Thomas’ Road and Winsover Road has prompted urgent repair efforts. Anglian Water has committed to restoring water service by 20:00 today.
A spokesperson for Anglian Water expressed regret over the continuing disruption. “We’re really sorry that some customers in Spalding are still seeing issues with their water supply,” they stated. “Our teams have repaired the burst mains which initially caused this, so some customers may have started to see their water supply restored, but we’ve now found another burst on the pipe. We’re working on site now to repair this third burst and get everyone back on water as quickly as we can.”
To assist those affected, the company has been distributing bottled water directly to homes in the impacted areas. Despite some frustrations from residents regarding delays in delivery, Anglian Water reassured them that supplies are being prioritized. “We are still delivering bottled water directly to affected customers’ homes today,” the spokesperson added. “Some customers have already received this, but if you’re in the affected area and haven’t had your delivery yet, it will be with you today.”
The ongoing repairs necessitate additional road closures to ensure the safety of both repair crews and the public. The spokesperson confirmed that St Thomas’ Road at the junction with Winsover Road has been closed, alongside existing closures on Winsover Road and Haverfield Road.
Residents have expressed their concerns about the situation, with many still waiting for their water supply to be fully restored. The spokesperson acknowledged these frustrations and thanked the community for their patience during this challenging time. “We’re really sorry again for the disruption we’ve caused to your week,” they said. “Thanks to our customers in Spalding for bearing with us while we get things back to normal.”
As the situation develops, Anglian Water continues its efforts to resolve the issues and restore reliable water service to the affected areas.
