Moyes Challenges Barry to Maintain Momentum After First Goal
David Moyes has issued a clear message to striker Thierno Barry following the young forward’s first goal for Everton in a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on December 7, 2025. The match took place at Hill Dickinson Stadium where Everton secured their fourth win in five games, climbing to sixth place in the Premier League.
Barry, who joined Everton from Villarreal in the summer, was ecstatic to break his scoring drought after failing to find the net in his initial 16 appearances. He doubled Everton’s advantage shortly before half-time, capitalizing on an own goal from Nikola Milenkovic. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall added a third goal late in the match, solidifying the team’s strong performance.
Moyes Stresses Consistency for Barry
Despite Barry’s breakthrough, Moyes emphasized that the striker must not become complacent. In a post-match press conference, he stated, “He’ll not be able to play another six games and only score one goal.” The manager highlighted the need for Barry to maintain his performance level to secure his place in the starting lineup.
Moyes also pointed out the growing potential of teammate Beto, who has struggled to find form this season. The 27-year-old scored eight goals for Everton last season but has managed just one goal in the ongoing 2025-26 campaign. Moyes noted the importance of both players finding their scoring touch, saying, “We’re really hoping Beto comes back into form as well.”
