Milan Eyes Højlund as Transfer Activity Intensifies Across Europe

Transfer activity in European football is heating up as AC Milan reportedly monitors striker Rasmus Højlund while a deal for Benjamin Sesko draws closer to completion. The Danish forward, who has garnered interest from several clubs, is seen as a potential asset for Milan amid ongoing discussions regarding player movements across the continent.
Milan is actively pursuing Højlund, who joined Atalanta in 2023 for a transfer fee of €74 million plus €10 million in add-ons. Despite this significant investment, the 20-year-old has struggled to find the net, managing only 11 goals in 58 appearances. Meanwhile, RB Leipzig has made an approach for an attacking midfielder, viewing him as a likely replacement for Harvey Elliott, who is reportedly seeking more first-team opportunities.
Elliott, currently with Liverpool, could be available for a transfer around €45 million. The 20-year-old is being linked with a move away from Anfield, particularly as he aims for consistent playtime. Leipzig’s interest highlights the ongoing reshuffle within top clubs as they prepare for the upcoming season.
In Italy, Napoli is reportedly keen on acquiring USMNT midfielder Yunus Musah. Following his impactful season at AC Milan, during which he made 40 appearances, Musah is viewed as a strong fit for Napoli’s squad by manager Antonio Conte. Initial discussions have already taken place, indicating a potential move as the transfer window approaches its conclusion.
On another front, Manchester United has dismissed interest from five clubs in center back Harry Maguire. Despite reported interest from teams in both the Premier League and Serie A, United aims to keep the 32-year-old, with plans to extend his contract and secure his future at Old Trafford. Maguire’s contributions last season included 40 appearances, solidifying his role under manager Ruben Amorim.
Furthermore, West Ham is monitoring the situation of Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling. Manager Graham Potter, who previously worked with Sterling at Chelsea, is keen on reuniting with the 30-year-old. Chelsea is reportedly eager to offload Sterling before the transfer window closes, although he may prefer to remain in London.
Confirmed transfers are also shaping the landscape of the market. Liverpool has officially sold England Under-21 midfielder to Lyon for £15 million, while Ajax secured Spain U16 midfielder Gomez on a free transfer, signing him until June 2028.
Various other rumors are circulating as clubs make tactical moves. Liverpool is considering a €40 million bid for Parma defender Simone Bastoni should negotiations for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guéhi falter. Al Hilal has reached an agreement with Liverpool for striker Cody Gakpo, while Chelsea is open to offers around £80 million for striker Romelu Lukaku.
In addition, Southampton is demanding an initial £45 million plus bonuses for 19-year-old winger Samuel Edozie from Everton. The market is buzzing with clubs pursuing new talent as they prepare for the next season, demonstrating the dynamic and often unpredictable nature of football transfers.
As more developments unfold, clubs and fans alike are keeping a close eye on the movements within the transfer market, ready for announcements that could reshape their teams ahead of the upcoming season.
