Invergordon’s Torran Lambie Shines with Hat-Trick in Historic Win

The young footballer Torran Lambie made headlines on March 17, 2024, by scoring a remarkable hat-trick that led Invergordon FC to a historic 3-1 victory over Dunipace in the Second Preliminary Round of the Scottish Cup. This victory marks the first time Invergordon has advanced to the first round of this prestigious competition, a milestone that adds to their status as champions of the North Caledonian League.
A Match to Remember
Lambie, a 17-year-old on loan from Ross County, was named man of the match for his outstanding performance. He expressed his pride in contributing to a significant moment for the club. “It is a great feeling; we have been working towards this as a team, and it was really good to get through and pull it over the line,” he stated.
The match began with Dunipace taking the lead just before halftime, dominating possession for much of the game. Despite this, Invergordon remained resilient. In the dying moments of regulation time, Lambie found space in the box and equalized in the third minute of injury time, showcasing his ability to deliver when it mattered most.
Extra Time Excellence
As the match progressed into extra time, Lambie continued to shine. He scored his second goal in the 96th minute, connecting with a well-placed cross from the right wing to fire home from close range. He sealed the victory with his third goal, picking up the ball on the left wing and skillfully charging into the box before slotting it into the top right corner.
Lambie, who is also a student at Grantown Grammar School and has previously represented the Scotland Schools squad, credited the team’s stamina for their success. “The fitness levels really showed; we were able to stretch them and run in behind and just cause them problems in extra time. We were dominant, and it was just about getting it over the line,” he remarked.
Looking ahead, Invergordon awaits the draw to determine their opponent for the first round of the Scottish Cup, which will take place on Sunday night. Lambie emphasized the importance of staying grounded despite their success. “It is a great feeling; obviously, we’ll go as far as we can, and it is just about working week in and week out,” he concluded.
This victory not only highlights the talent of young players like Lambie but also signifies a promising future for Invergordon FC in Scottish football.
