Hundreds Prepare for Llangollen Canal Walk to Support Hope House
Hundreds of walkers are set to participate in the annual Llangollen Canal Walk on March 22, 2026, aiming to raise funds for Hope House Children’s Hospices. The event will cover a scenic 10-mile route, starting from the Trevor Basin and crossing the renowned Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, known for its stunning views. Participants will then follow the canal to The Poachers pub in Chirk for refreshments before returning to the starting point.
This year marks the 16th iteration of the event, which successfully raised approximately £30,000 last year. Vicky Bradbeer, a fundraiser for Hope House, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming walk, stating, “This wonderful event is guaranteed to put a smile on your face and a spring in your step in March.” She encouraged participants to bring along friends, family, and even pets to enjoy a day outdoors while supporting a vital cause.
The Llangollen Canal Walk has consistently drawn significant interest, with tickets often selling out quickly. Bradbeer emphasized the need for early registration, advising potential walkers to secure their spots through the Hope House website to avoid disappointment.
DMR Plumbing & Heating is proud to sponsor this year’s event. Office Manager Rosie-Jane Quayle highlighted the company’s commitment to community support, stating, “Supporting a charity such as Hope House Children’s Hospices means a great deal to us, as this reflects our commitment and care for others within our community.” Quayle expressed excitement about the sponsorship and the company’s participation, aiming to raise as much money as possible on the day.
Hope House Children’s Hospices provides specialist nursing care and support to children with life-threatening conditions and their families across Shropshire, Cheshire, and Wales. The organization requires approximately £10 million annually to maintain its services. While about two months of income comes from statutory sources, the remaining ten months rely heavily on public donations.
By joining the Llangollen Canal Walk, participants will not only contribute to this essential service but also enjoy a family-friendly day out in the fresh spring air. Tickets are priced at £15 for adults and £5 for children, with all entrants receiving a bespoke 2026 medal and a goody bag at the halfway point.
As the event date approaches, it promises to be a highlight of the spring season, bringing together the community to support a worthy cause while enjoying the beauty of the Llangollen Canal.
