Erik ten Hag Returns to FC Twente as Technical Director

Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been appointed as the new technical director of FC Twente, effective from February 1, 2026. This announcement comes four months after his dismissal from Bayer Leverkusen, where he lasted just three matches in charge. Ten Hag’s return to Twente marks a significant chapter in his career, as he steps into a role at the club where he began both his playing and coaching journey.

FC Twente confirmed Ten Hag’s appointment on Tuesday, stating he will succeed current technical director Jan Streuer, who plans to retire at the end of the season. My football and coaching careers began here,” he stated on the club’s website. After leaving Ajax, where he achieved considerable success, including three Eredivisie titles and a deep run in the Champions League, he took the helm at Manchester United. However, a disappointing start to the 2024/25 season led to his dismissal in October 2024.

Subsequently, he joined Bayer Leverkusen, replacing Xabi Alonso as head coach.
