Micro Component Group Showcases Innovative PCE at MD&M West
The Micro Component Group (MCG) is set to exhibit its cutting-edge photo-chemical etching (PCE) technology at the upcoming MD&M West conference in Anaheim from February 3 to 5, 2026. Attendees are invited to visit Booth 1587, where MCG will showcase how PCE is revolutionizing the production of smaller, cleaner, and more reliable metal components for modern medical devices.
As medical technology evolves, manufacturers are increasingly challenged by the limitations of traditional fabrication methods. Conventional processes, such as stamping and laser cutting, often introduce issues like burrs, stress, and heat-affected zones. These challenges affect the performance and safety of intricate medical devices ranging from minimally invasive surgical tools to wearable health monitors. MCG’s PCE technology addresses these concerns, making it ideal for creating micro-scale medical components.
Revolutionizing Medical Component Manufacturing
The PCE process allows for the production of highly precise components, including micro-needles used for drug delivery, diagnostic structures, and ultra-fine parts for dermatological applications. MCG’s technology ensures these components are manufactured with sharp geometries, consistent apertures, and tight dimensional control, all while maintaining material integrity and avoiding stress or burrs that could compromise safety and patient comfort.
By removing traditional manufacturing barriers, MCG’s PCE technology produces stress-free, burr-free metal components that meet the stringent requirements for performance and cleanliness critical in the medical field. At MD&M West, MCG will highlight the combined capabilities of its subsidiary companies: micrometal GmbH and Thin Metal Parts (TMP Inc.).
The micrometal GmbH PCE platform is highly automated and scalable, delivering repeatable precision from initial development through to high-volume production. This adaptability allows engineering teams to iterate designs quickly, eliminating delays associated with hard tooling costs. Meanwhile, TMP Inc. offers additional manufacturing techniques, including electroforming and laser cutting, providing flexibility for unique design requirements.
Jochen Kern, Head of Sales & Marketing at MCG, emphasizes the importance of innovation in manufacturing. He states, “Innovation thrives when manufacturing keeps pace with design, and that’s exactly what PCE delivers. For medical devices, the ability to produce complex, high-precision metal components without stress or burrs is increasingly becoming a prerequisite, not an advantage.”
David Faris, Director of Sales for North America, reinforces MCG’s commitment to collaboration, saying, “We’re not just manufacturers — we’re development partners. If you’re trying to push a design beyond what conventional processes can reliably deliver, we’ll help you get there with a process that supports innovation at every step.”
Engagement Opportunities at MD&M West
Attendees at MD&M West are encouraged to visit Booth 1587 to examine sample components, engage in discussions about application-specific challenges, and discover how PCE can enhance development cycles while improving quality and repeatability.
With its innovative approach to manufacturing, the Micro Component Group is poised to play a significant role in the future of medical device production. As the industry continues to advance, MCG’s PCE technology stands out as a vital solution for the next generation of medical components.
