Rhydyfelin Man Receives Conditional Discharge for Harassment

A man from Rhydyfelin has received a conditional discharge after admitting to a harassment charge involving excessive unwanted communication directed at a woman. On March 5, 2024, Ioan Lewis, 31, appeared before Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court where he changed his plea to guilty prior to a scheduled trial.

Initially, Lewis had pleaded not guilty to the harassment of Katie Fletcher that occurred between January 10 and February 10 last year. The court heard that his actions involved sending “excessive amounts of unwanted communication” over this period.

Following his guilty plea, magistrates imposed a six-month conditional discharge on Lewis. In addition to the discharge, he was ordered to pay costs amounting to £200 to the Crown Prosecution Service and a victim services surcharge of £26.
