Florence Ajimobi Denies AI-Generated Video Claims on 2027 Election
Former Oyo State First Lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi, has publicly denied any involvement in a video that recently went viral on social media. The footage allegedly depicts her making inflammatory comments regarding the upcoming 2027 gubernatorial election in Oyo State. In a statement released from her office on Saturday, Dr. Ajimobi emphasized that the video does not represent her views and was never recorded by her.
The statement, titled “Refutation of Fraudulent AI-Generated Video of Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi,” categorically rejected the claims made in the viral clip. The video purportedly shows her declaring a political confrontation against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a statement she insists is fabricated. A thorough digital forensic review revealed that the video was created using advanced artificial intelligence techniques, specifically a type of deepfake technology.
Dr. Ajimobi’s office explained that the video manipulated her lip movements and voice patterns to create a false narrative. They stated, “Digital forensic review has confirmed that this video is a synthetic fabrication created using generative AI. The footage is a ‘deepfake,’ where artificial intelligence has been used to manipulate the lip movements and voice to deliver a script that Dr. Ajimobi never spoke.”
The statement further warned about the implications of such deceptive content, highlighting it as a form of manipulation that could adversely affect political discourse. “This video is a clear example of the ‘synthetic deception’ that experts have warned will be used to influence the 2027 political cycle. The use of AI to impersonate public figures and manufacture controversial statements sets a dangerous precedent that undermines the integrity of democratic discourse,” it read.
Dr. Ajimobi’s team urged the public, media organizations, and security agencies to disregard the misleading video. They stressed the importance of verifying the authenticity of politically sensitive materials before sharing them. “We urge the public, media houses, and security agencies to treat this content as a malicious hoax. In an era where digital manipulation is becoming increasingly sophisticated, it is vital to verify the source and authenticity of such inflammatory content before distribution,” the statement emphasized.
The video in question included statements attributed to Dr. Ajimobi, suggesting an aggressive stance towards the PDP, proclaiming, “we’re going to war in 2027, it’s going to be war, head on war, PDP must go.” These words were firmly rejected by her office as part of the fabricated narrative designed to stir political unrest ahead of the election.
In closing, Dr. Ajimobi reiterated her commitment to democratic principles and indicated that she might pursue legal action against those responsible for creating and distributing the misleading video. “Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi remains committed to the principles of truth and the democratic process. We reserve all legal rights to seek redress against the creators and intentional distributors of this fraudulent media,” the statement concluded.
The rapid circulation of this video has sparked considerable political debate as Oyo State gears up for the 2027 governorship election. As the political landscape becomes increasingly complex with the rise of digital manipulation, the call for vigilance and verification of content has never been more urgent.
