David Hoovler Sworn in for Fourth Term as District Attorney

David M. Hoovler officially commenced his fourth term as the District Attorney of Orange County on January 6, 2024. The oath of office was administered by County Clerk Kelly Eskew, marking another chapter in Hoovler’s tenure, which began in 2014.

In his remarks following the ceremony, Hoovler emphasized his commitment to delivering justice and ensuring community safety. “My goal in this term remains to deliver justice and keep our communities safe,” he stated. He outlined his strategies for achieving this, which include leveraging technology and data to address priority crimes, focusing on fraud and white-collar crimes, and enhancing training for law enforcement.

Hoovler’s approach also prioritizes robust community engagement and outreach. He expressed confidence in the talents of his team, saying, “I will assign the endlessly talented and experienced prosecutors of the office who have dedicated their careers to public service to represent the people in court.”

With a strong background in public safety, Hoovler aims to utilize the resources of the District Attorney’s Office to maintain Orange County as a safe and prosperous environment for its residents. His current term is set to run through 2029. In recognition of his work, Hoovler was named the statewide prosecutor of the year in 2021, further establishing his reputation in the legal community.
