The final evening of the Senior Fest 2025 showcased a vibrant fashion show titled “See You in Radovče,” which celebrated the richness of experience and wisdom among older generations. Held in the heart of Podgorica at the Independence Square, the event took attendees back to the nostalgic times of the city, specifically to the terrace of the former Radovče restaurant.

Modeling outfits designed by Slobodanka Seka Martinović, residents from the Home for the Elderly in Podgorica and members of the Cultural and Artistic Society “Third Age” took to the runway, highlighting the talents of older individuals. The evening featured performances from the popular KIC Pop Choir, and the atmosphere was further enlivened by the group Legende, captivating visitors of all ages.

Recognition for contributions to elder care was a key part of the festivities, with awards presented in three categories: institutions, companies, and individuals. The prestigious award for elder care was given to the Red Cross of Montenegro, which has been serving the elderly across the country for the past 20 years. Currently, the organization supports over 1,000 seniors in 16 municipalities.

Jelena Dubak, General Secretary of the Red Cross, received the accolade from Vesna Radojević, director of Senior Fest. She expressed gratitude on behalf of volunteers and colleagues, emphasizing the importance of their work: “We do this for the elderly and with the elderly. This award motivates us to continue developing services and promoting active aging, as seniors are a reflection of our society and an incredible resource.”

Another significant award went to the Montenegrin telecommunications company MTEL for its commitment to educating retirees. Over 500 seniors have benefited from its programs. Ljiljana Brnović accepted the award on behalf of MTEL, conveying the company’s dedication to supporting such initiatives with love.

Podgorica’s mayor, Saša Mujović, was also honored for his sensitivity towards the elderly, having established free public transportation for pensioners during his tenure. In his acceptance speech, Mujović remarked, “It is rewarding to be recognized by those who are better and more experienced, who approach you with the sincerity of a parent. Your years and experiences are not a burden to us but a treasure. You built this city and this country, and it is my pleasure to work for your well-being and happiness.”

A special award was presented to Balša Alibabić from the city’s Secretariat for Social Welfare for his efforts in elder care. Alibabić announced that the Secretariat plans to open an office dedicated to pensioners and the elderly, further enhancing support for this demographic.

The event also featured a display of vintage cars, adding a nostalgic touch to the festivities. A diverse cultural and entertainment program took place on the weekend in Njegoš Park and Independence Square, marking the fourth iteration of Senior Fest, organized by the NGO Montenegro Education and the Capital City with support from various partners.

Overall, the Senior Fest 2025 not only celebrated the contributions of older generations but also fostered a sense of community and appreciation, reinforcing the importance of honoring and supporting elders in society.
