Local Students Celebrate Achievements at Helmsdale Library Event

At the Helmsdale Library, primary school students were recognized for their creative talents during the ‘Abracadabra’ competition. The event, held in December 2000, culminated in a prize-giving ceremony where local councillor Rita Finlayson presented awards to the young winners.

The ceremony highlighted the importance of encouraging literacy and creativity among children. Participants were tasked with crafting imaginative stories, all in the spirit of the competition’s magical theme. The winners included Kathryn Martin, John Simpson, Gellie Taylor, Mandy Cairns, and Natalie Sutherland.
