King Charles Surprises Staff with Unique Christmas Gifts

King Charles, at 77 years old, is embracing the festive spirit by generously gifting his staff during the Christmas season. Unlike his predecessor, the late Queen Elizabeth II, who traditionally presented her employees with a Christmas pudding each year, King Charles has chosen a more elaborate approach to holiday gift-giving.

According to an insider, the King is known for his kindness towards those who support him throughout the year. He reportedly provides a dinner service consisting of matching plates and side plates, which he distributes gradually. Staff members receive complete sets if they remain in service long enough, highlighting the King’s appreciation for their dedication.

While the dinner service is a significant departure from the Queen’s annual pudding, King Charles continues to embrace the tradition by also gifting a Christmas pudding as an additional treat for his staff. This dual approach reflects his desire to connect with those who contribute to his royal duties while also maintaining a sense of tradition.

Celebrations at Sandringham and Beyond

The festivities are not limited to gift-giving. Staff from the Royal Household gather at St James’ Palace to celebrate the season together. This includes employees from various royal residences, notably King Charles’s Highgrove estate. Such gatherings foster camaraderie among the staff and reinforce a sense of community within the royal family’s operational framework.

Former royal gardener Jack Stooks shared insights into the King’s Christmas traditions in an exclusive interview with Heart Bingo. He recounted, “For the first few years that I worked at Highgrove, we also got a Christmas pudding from the King.” Stooks noted that the King took the time to personally sign Christmas cards for his staff, further exemplifying his hands-on approach to staff relations. “When the King got around to doing his Christmas cards, we all got a hand-signed card as well from himself and Camilla,” he added.

King Charles and Queen Camilla recently celebrated Christmas at the Sandringham estate, surrounded by family, including the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children. This family gathering not only highlights the royal family’s commitment to tradition but also underscores the importance of community and gratitude during the festive season.

As King Charles continues to create his own traditions, his thoughtful gestures towards staff reflect a modern approach to royal duties, balancing generosity with a nod to the past.
