Forres Solar Firm AES Solar Shortlisted for National Award

A Forres-based renewable energy company, AES Solar, has been recognized as a finalist for the prestigious Investors in People (IIP) Awards 2025. The firm, which holds the title of the UK’s longest-running solar installer, is nominated in the category for organizations with 50 to 249 employees, competing for an IIP Silver Award. This recognition places AES Solar among an elite group of UK employers, including notable organizations like YMCA and Salvation Army Homes.
The IIP Awards celebrate organizations that excel in areas such as leadership, employee engagement, and workforce development. Jamie Di Sotto, the commercial director at AES Solar, expressed pride in this achievement, stating, “To be recognised at this level is a real honour for AES Solar. Our people are what make our business exceptional, and this nomination celebrates the shared effort behind our success.”
Significant Transformation and Employee Focus
AES Solar’s nomination comes after a transformative period for the company, which included a management buyout in 2023 and the integration of Black Isle Renewables into the AES group in 2024. These changes have reinforced the company’s commitment to its employees, which has been further validated by its Investors in People Silver accreditation. This accreditation recognizes consistently high levels of trust, engagement, and wellbeing among the workforce.
The IIP Awards aim to highlight employers who exemplify excellence in leadership, learning, and inclusion. AES Solar’s commitment to fostering a supportive workplace culture aligns with the principles celebrated by the awards.
The winners of the Investors in People Awards 2025 will be announced at a ceremony in London on November 12, 2025. AES Solar will be represented by technical director Campbell MacLennan and marketing director Claire Moyne, as they seek to bring home this prestigious accolade.
In conclusion, AES Solar’s recognition in the IIP Awards underscores the company’s dedication to employee development and engagement. This nomination not only honors the firm’s commitment but also highlights its role in promoting higher standards for workplace support in the north of Scotland.
