VILLANELLE Releases Energetic Single ‘Measly Means’ Ahead of Tour
VILLANELLE has launched their second single, titled “Measly Means,” ahead of their UK headline tour scheduled for December 2023. This release follows their debut track, “Hinge,” which debuted earlier this year. The new song offers fans another preview of the trio’s upcoming debut EP.
Comprised of members Gene Gallagher (vocals and guitar), Ben Taylor (guitar), and Jack Schiavo (bass), “Measly Means” showcases a dynamic blend of raw power and confident attitude. The track reflects Gallagher’s songwriting journey, with the lyrics stemming from his experiences at the age of fourteen. He described the song as a reflection on the feeling of being hungover, a recurring theme in his work.
Gallagher shared insights on the creative process behind the single, stating, “We laboured over ‘Measly Means’ for ages. At first, it sounded too light and lovey, but when Ben added the bends and sustains that made it feel like Smashing Pumpkins, I was like, that’s it.”
