Oscar nominee Rose Byrne recently opened up about her admiration for fellow Australian star Kylie Minogue and shared fond memories of the late actor Heath Ledger. In an interview for the April issue of Tatler, Byrne described how her excitement around Minogue makes her feel like a “10-year-old girl.”

Byrne recounted her history with Minogue, stating, “I went to all her concerts. I am a little bit friendly with her now. I’m still a 10-year-old girl if I’m around her.” This statement highlights the deep admiration she holds for the pop icon, showcasing the impact of celebrity on personal experiences.

Reflections on Heath Ledger

In addition to discussing Minogue, Byrne reminisced about her collaboration with Ledger in the 1999 crime comedy Two Hands. At the time, both were teenagers navigating the early stages of their acting careers. She described Ledger as “a combination of extremely kinetic and energetic and shy,” emphasizing the contrasts in his personality.

Byrne credited Ledger with encouraging her to pursue her career in the United States. “He was instrumental in me getting an agent. It was a very seminal personal time,” she noted, reflecting on how that period “just kind of changed my life.” The joy and excitement of those early days in Los Angeles remain vivid memories for Byrne.

Acknowledging Career Achievements

Byrne’s recent success includes winning a Golden Globe for her role in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. She is also nominated for an Academy Award, set to take place later this month. Describing her role, she said, “It’s the greatest role of my life. It’s so corny to say, but of course it is. It’s so nourishing, it’s empowering, but there is a grief to it.”

Despite her achievements, Byrne expressed a grounded perspective on the unpredictability of the entertainment industry. “I’m a worker. I want to work and I love it. Deep down, I also have no assurance or confidence that I will continue to work. This business doesn’t owe you anything. I have no illusions about that,” she candidly stated.

The full feature with Byrne’s insights will be available in the April issue of Tatler, accessible through digital download and on newsstands starting March 12.
