Pokimane Responds to Trolling About Motherhood and Age
Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys, a prominent Twitch streamer, recently addressed critics who have targeted her with comments about her age and family planning. During a live stream in November 2025, the popular entertainer, who is currently 29 and will turn 30 in May 2026, expressed her frustration over viewers questioning when she plans to have children.
Pokimane, one of the most successful figures on the platform with over 9 million followers, confronted the trolls who have invaded her chat with remarks about her age. She highlighted that despite being “pushing 35,” she finds it peculiar that people feel entitled to comment on her personal life. “You know, people who come in and go, ‘Why don’t you have kids yet?’” she said. “Someone said I’m ‘pushing 35.’ That’s six years away!”
In her response, she emphasized that there is no flaw in choosing not to have children and noted her own desire for motherhood. She humorously labeled the trolls as “uterus-watching,” drawing a comparison to the term “pocket-watching,” where individuals scrutinize others’ financial status.
Addressing the Double Standards in Streaming
Pokimane’s remarks resonate with broader issues female streamers face in the gaming industry, where age and gender often become points of contention. The streamer questioned the motivations behind such intrusive comments, asking, “Why do you care if there’s a baby in my uterus? Shouldn’t you go get a partner and worry about their uterus?”
This incident is not isolated. In 2024, fellow content creator Valkyrae faced similar scrutiny when a user on X mocked her for being “expired” at the age of 32. Valkyrae responded with humor, stating, “I am aging, and I am, indeed, a woman. I am a woman with ovaries, and I am aging.”
The scrutiny of women’s choices in the online space raises important questions about societal norms and expectations. As more female streamers like Pokimane and Valkyrae gain prominence, their experiences highlight the need for a shift in how audiences perceive and engage with women in gaming.
The Impact of Online Criticism
Streaming has its share of challenges, particularly for women who must navigate a landscape often dominated by male voices. The rise of other popular streamers, such as Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed, has further spotlighted the disparities women face in this industry.
Pokimane’s candid remarks reflect a growing awareness among female content creators about the potential for harmful narratives surrounding age and motherhood. By speaking out, she hopes to challenge these societal expectations and encourage a more supportive environment for all streamers, regardless of gender.
As the conversation continues, it remains crucial for viewers to recognize the boundaries between entertainment and personal life. In an age where online interactions can significantly affect individuals, fostering a culture of respect and understanding is essential for the future of streaming.
