Nathan Fake, the renowned electronic music producer, has announced the release of his new album, Evaporator, scheduled for February 20, 2024. As he marks two decades in the music industry, Fake reflects on his artistic evolution, highlighting both technical and personal shifts in his work. This latest project represents a conscious effort to create music that is accessible and inviting.

In a recent statement, Fake described Evaporator as embodying his vision of “airy daytime music.” He clarified, “It’s not overtly confrontational electronic club music. It’s quite pleasant, it’s accessible.” As he crafted the album, he intentionally aimed for a sound that resonates as a daytime experience rather than something suited for afterparties.

Embracing Change and the Past

The album features the newly released track Bialystok, which pays homage to one of Fake’s early influences—UK Garage (UKG). However, he approaches this influence with a modern twist, moving away from traditional percussive elements to create a sound that is distinctively new and somewhat alien. This track illustrates the thematic essence of the album, encapsulating the full circle of Fake’s musical journey over the years.

Reflecting on his career, Fake remarked, “It makes me realise how long; twenty years is ages! It’s weird to see how much the world has changed.” He acknowledged the significant shift in the music landscape, noting that the promotional strategies of today differ vastly from those at the beginning of his career. “Release day back then you did nothing; now you spend all day on socials,” he added, emphasizing the increased pressure on artists to engage with their audience digitally.

A New Chapter in Visibility

For the first time, Fake’s face will appear on the cover art of his album, marking a departure from his previously shy demeanor. “I’ve never wanted to do this before, I’m very shy, and generally I don’t like being seen,” he explained. Yet, with two decades of experience, he feels it’s time to embrace this new aspect of his public persona.

He expressed gratitude for his continued presence in the music industry, despite its current preference for more extroverted figures. “I’m very lucky that I’m somehow surviving in this world, where the media world favours extroverts and interesting looking people,” he said.

As fans await the full release of Evaporator, the single Bialystok is available now, offering a glimpse into Nathan Fake’s latest artistic phase. For those interested in exploring his evolving sound, the album is available for pre-order.
