Morgan Wallen’s Arrest: Throws Chair, Asks Officer to Turn Up Music

Morgan Wallen’s recent legal troubles took an unexpected turn during his arrest for a chair-throwing incident in Nashville. Footage from the police vehicle reveals Wallen enjoying his own music while being detained for allegedly throwing a chair off the sixth-story rooftop of Eric Church’s bar, Chiefs. The chair landed dangerously close to a group of police officers on the street below.
This incident, which occurred in April 2024, has resulted in Wallen pleading guilty to two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment. New footage shows the country music star, 32, reacting with delight when he hears his own song playing on the police radio. Wallen even asked the arresting officer if he could turn up the volume, exclaiming, “This is me and Thomas Rhett. Turn it up! That’s me and TR!” His exuberance was evident as he laughed and encouraged the officer to play the song louder.
Wallen and Thomas Rhett collaborated on the track “Mamaw’s House,” and in the footage, Wallen praised Rhett, calling him “one of the best dudes in the world” and humorously noting that Rhett would “definitely not be getting arrested.”
Legal Consequences and Court Appearance
In December 2024, Wallen appeared in a Nashville court, where he accepted a plea deal that reduced his initial charges from three Class E felonies to two misdemeanors. He received a seven-day sentence in a DUI education program and was placed on supervised probation for two years. During the brief court session, Judge Cynthia Chappell asked how Wallen wished to plead, to which he responded, “Conditionally guilty.”
Wallen’s attorney, Worrick Robinson, indicated after the hearing that the plea would not result in a conviction if Wallen met all probation conditions. According to Robinson, “Upon the successful completion of his probation, the charges will be eligible for dismissal and expungement.” Wallen also faced a fine of $350 and additional court fees.
Public Reaction and Reflection
The incident has drawn mixed reactions online. Many social media users found humor in Wallen’s comments about Rhett, with one user noting, “‘He would definitely not be getting arrested’ is funny.” Others referenced Wallen’s past remarks, suggesting he has a knack for finding himself in unusual situations.
Despite the controversy, Wallen has committed to making a positive impact through his music. He emphasized his desire to cooperate with authorities and communicate directly with those affected by the incident. As he navigates this challenging chapter, Wallen remains focused on his career and the positive contributions he can make through his foundation and music.
