Guitarist Mark Tremonti shared an unexpected encounter with legendary AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson during the wedding of former baseball player Johnny Damon in Florida in 2004. In a recent interview with Metal Hammer, Tremonti recounted how he seized the chance to perform together, resulting in a memorable jam session that featured a classic Led Zeppelin song.

Tremonti, known for his work with Creed and the band Alter Bridge, attended Damon’s wedding at a time when his musical career was experiencing a significant transition. The wedding brought together various celebrities, and Tremonti was encouraged by friends to approach Johnson, who was enjoying a drink at the event.

“I walked up behind him: ‘Hi Brian Johnson, I’m a guitar player. Do you want to go onstage and jam some songs?’” Tremonti recalled. Johnson’s enthusiastic response, “Fuck yeah, mate!” highlighted his readiness to join in without hesitation.

The two musicians took to the stage and began performing, starting with “Rock And Roll” from Led Zeppelin’s iconic 1971 album, Led Zeppelin IV. Tremonti noted that they did not play any AC/DC songs during their impromptu session. The atmosphere grew lively as other guests joined in, turning the moment into a spontaneous celebration of music.

This event took place during a tumultuous period for Tremonti. Earlier in 2004, Creed disbanded, prompting him to form Alter Bridge with Myles Kennedy and other former Creed members. Their debut single, “Open Your Eyes,” was released just a week after Creed’s public split, marking a new chapter in Tremonti’s career.

Creed has reunited twice since then, first from 2009 to 2012 and again in 2023, while Tremonti has continued to develop Alter Bridge, releasing seven studio albums, including their upcoming self-titled album set for release on January 23, 2024.

In related news, AC/DC recently announced tour dates for 2026, including performances in South America and North America from February to September. The first show is scheduled for February 24, 2026, at the Estádio do MorumBIS in São Paulo, Brazil.

For fans interested in Tremonti, an exclusive bundle featuring an alternate cover of Classic Rock magazine, a piece of his stage backdrop, and a signed letter of authenticity is available through the official Louder store. This unique opportunity highlights Tremonti’s ongoing influence and connection to the rock music community.
