Mark Labbett’s Awkward Date on Celebs Go Dating Leaves Fans Shocked

Fans of Celebs Go Dating were left astonished when quiz master Mark Labbett, known for his role on The Chase, experienced a series of awkward moments during his date with fellow quiz enthusiast Natalie. The episode, which aired on March 15, 2024, showcased Labbett struggling to stay awake and committing a blunder that further escalated the discomfort of the situation.
Throughout the dinner, the 6ft 6in star could be seen yawning and even closing his eyes at one point, leading viewers to wonder if he had fallen asleep. In a particularly cringe-worthy moment, Labbett mistook a tea light for his drink and attempted to sip from it, exclaiming, “Oh that’s not a drink!” This left Natalie giggling awkwardly, as the situation rapidly deteriorated.
Mark Labbett expressed his embarrassment after the incident, stating, “That was so embarrassing. I’m trying my best for Natalie, but she’s not getting the best out of me. Sorry love.” He soon admitted defeat, declaring that he was too tired and needed to retire for the evening.
Labbett, who has been open about his health challenges, was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2017. He previously disclosed that filming for the show can be particularly taxing, recalling an earlier date that had to be cut short due to a hypoglycemia episode, a condition where blood sugar levels drop too low. “The hardest part of the process was the long filming,” he explained. “I might have gotten a little bit grumpy.”
Following the awkward scenes, social media erupted with viewers expressing their disbelief at the unfolding events. One viewer noted, “Never been as uncomfortable watching a date on TV as I am watching the Beast.” Another added, “How that woman hasn’t got up and walked from the date with Mark, I don’t know.” Many found the situation both humorous and cringeworthy, highlighting the unexpected nature of reality television.
Despite the rocky start, Labbett has been navigating the dating scene following his split from TV presenter Hayley Palmer. The couple began dating after Labbett’s divorce from his ex-wife Katie, with whom he shares a seven-year-old son. “I’ll admit, I’m not the most clued-up person when it comes to relationships,” Labbett previously shared about his experiences on the show.
Interestingly, despite the mishaps during his date with Natalie, reports indicate that Labbett has found a connection with another contestant, Deanne Perkins, 57. The two reportedly “instantly connected,” suggesting that Labbett’s journey on Celebs Go Dating may lead to more successful outcomes in the future.
As viewers continue to tune in, it remains to be seen how Labbett’s experiences will unfold on the show. His candidness about his health and dating challenges adds a layer of relatability, appealing to audiences who appreciate authenticity in reality television.
