Amanda Holden Confronts Scammer in Dramatic Showdown on BBC
The latest episode of The One Show featured a gripping encounter as Amanda Holden confronted a scammer impersonating her over the phone. The segment aired on November 20, 2025, and is part of a special edition of Scam Interceptors, highlighting the dangers of identity theft and fraudulent schemes.
During the broadcast, the 54-year-old television presenter learned that her likeness had been exploited by scammers attempting to deceive her fans into investing in fake opportunities. As part of the investigation, Mark, a producer on Scam Interceptors, contacted various fraudsters posing as Holden, who were soliciting money from unsuspecting individuals.
A Shocking Discovery
Amanda was taken aback when she viewed a deepfake video of herself, which featured an American accent. She reacted with disbelief, stating, “That is so bad!” and questioned how genuine fans could be misled by such a portrayal, adding, “How would people fall for that?” This moment underscored the sophistication of modern scams and the risks faced by individuals in the digital age.
Following this unsettling revelation, the Scam Interceptors team identified a fraudster, referred to as “scamanda,” and set up a confrontation. The team arranged a phone call with the impersonator, during which Amanda posed as a bank employee to gain further insight into the scam.
During the call, the scammer claimed they required a payment of £3,000 immediately, with a total of £10,000 demanded for the fraudulent scheme. In a dramatic turn, Amanda revealed her true identity, stating, “Can I let you know my name, sir, so you know who you’re dealing with? My name is Amanda Holden, I live in the UK, I know everything about you…” The call was abruptly terminated, leaving viewers stunned.
Taking Action Against Fraud
Expressing her shock at the situation, Amanda exclaimed, “Oh my God!” But the confrontation did not end there. The scammer accused Amanda and the Scam Interceptors team of using artificial intelligence to impersonate her. In response, Amanda recorded a voice note directly addressing the fraudster. She stated, “This is Amanda Holden. You’ve been using my name as part of a whole scamming investment fund. I know where you live, I know everything about you, we work for a programme called Scam Interceptors on BBC. Google it!”
This confrontation highlights the ongoing battle against online fraud and the importance of raising awareness about such scams. The episode serves as a reminder for viewers to remain vigilant and informed about potential threats to their identities.
The One Show continues to air weeknights at 19:00 on BBC One and can also be streamed on BBC iPlayer.
