Lola Hair Extensions Expands Globally After Whirlwind Year

Lola Hair Extensions, a prominent salon based in Northampton, has experienced significant growth in the past year, including an expansion into Dubai. Founded by Georgia Baugh in 2011, the business opened its latest salon and academy on Wellingborough Road in July 2023. The brand has trained over 100 students in hair extensions across the UK and Dubai, equipping them to launch their own successful ventures.

Global Growth and New Offerings

The team at Lola Hair Extensions is driven by a passion for helping clients regain their confidence, particularly those struggling with thin or damaged hair. The salon’s focus on empowering clients has become a cornerstone of its identity. “Seeing clients leave feeling empowered is the most rewarding part of what we do,” Baugh stated.

Initially, Baugh started her journey in the hair industry at just 19 years old, after completing a two-day course in London. By balancing her salon work with a full-time job, she gradually built a client base. It wasn’t until just before the pandemic that she took the leap to commit to her business full-time, and that decision proved fruitful. Following her success, Baugh trained her sister, who also became an accredited stylist.

Recognizing a gap in the market for a hair extension specialist in Northampton, Baugh expanded her focus to include an in-house colour specialist. Despite moving to Dubai in January 2023, she maintained a close partnership with her sister, who oversaw the renovations for their new salon. Most decisions were made via video calls to ensure the new space met their standards.

Innovative Products and Client Experience

Reflecting on the developments of 2025, Baugh described the year as “a whirlwind” filled with changes and growth. “We’ve grown the team, launched our product line, and learnt a lot during our first two years in business. We’re grateful for the reputation we have, and the one word I’d use to describe this year is growth,” she said.

The new product line includes an aftercare package featuring specially formulated shampoo, conditioner, and a hair extension mask. Baugh emphasized the importance of providing clients with free information and education about aftercare, which led to the creation of these products. Additionally, the team introduced a tape extension remover, designed to appeal to a new customer base of extensionists. This product allows extensions to be removed and refitted in the same appointment, addressing client needs for efficiency.

Feedback from the Northampton community has been overwhelmingly positive. “They say it’s a luxurious experience and environment, and how friendly, welcoming, and down-to-earth our girls are,” Baugh noted. Client sensitivity is paramount in this industry, especially for those dealing with self-esteem issues related to hair health.

Baugh takes pride in the strong team she has cultivated, having personally trained each stylist. This dedication has helped the salon maintain its reputation as a premier destination for hair extensions, even in her absence.

Looking ahead, Baugh plans to launch an online training academy in 2024, which will complement the in-person courses offered in both Northampton and Dubai. This initiative aims to make high-quality training accessible to aspiring stylists worldwide.
