Las Vegas experienced a decline of more than 2 percent in weddings last year, prompting local venues to seek innovative strategies to attract couples. Known as the “wedding capital of the world,” Las Vegas has a storied history as a popular destination for nuptials, having hosted celebrity weddings, including that of Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley in 1967. Despite its long-standing reputation, the wedding industry in this vibrant city faced challenges in 2025.

According to data from Fox 5 Vegas, Clark County, which encompasses Las Vegas, recorded over 70,000 weddings in 2025. While this number may seem substantial, it represents a decline of nearly 1,000 weddings compared to the previous year, marking a decrease of 2.6 percent. This trend is notable for a region that has celebrated more than 5 million weddings since its rise as a wedding hotspot.

Lynne Marie Goya, the Clark County Clerk, noted that most of these ceremonies are destination weddings, with couples traveling to Las Vegas for their special day. As the industry grapples with this decline, wedding venues are rethinking their approaches to attract potential clients.

Creative Solutions to Attract Couples

In a city characterized by its glamour and allure, venues are leveraging creativity to appeal to modern couples, particularly those who prioritize social media aesthetics. Donnie Kerestick from the Chapel of the Flowers shared that they have enhanced their chapel’s decor by adding 16,000 flowers, suspended from the ceiling alongside crystal chandeliers, aiming to create an Instagram-worthy atmosphere.

In an effort to draw in more couples, the Chapel of the Flowers is also conducting a wedding giveaway, where 87 couples will be awarded a free wedding or vow renewal. However, there is a stipulation: the giveaway will only be activated if singer-songwriter Taylor Swift and her fiancé, Travis Kelce, number 87 for the Kansas City Chiefs, choose to marry in Las Vegas. Sources from Page Six suggest that the couple is likely to opt for a coastal wedding in Rhode Island instead.

Despite the drop in the number of weddings, the wedding industry in Las Vegas remains a significant economic force, generating approximately $3.3 billion annually, according to Fox 5 Vegas. The tradition of marrying in Las Vegas, whether through spontaneous decisions or carefully planned events, shows resilience and continues to attract couples from around the world.

As the city adapts to the changing landscape of weddings, it is clear that Las Vegas will remain a key player in the global wedding industry, offering unique experiences that reflect both the excitement of the destination and the evolving preferences of today’s couples.
