Lancaster & Morecambe Partnership Expands Apprenticeship Programs
Local business leaders are joining forces with educational institutions to enhance apprenticeship opportunities in the Lancaster and Morecambe area. The recent partnership between the Lancaster & Morecambe College and the Lancaster and Morecambe Chamber of Commerce aims to support local businesses in creating more apprenticeship placements for young talent.
This collaboration marks a significant step in fostering connections between education and the local business community. By combining resources and expertise, the two organizations intend to raise awareness of apprenticeship opportunities and strengthen the workforce in the region.
Goals of the Partnership
The sponsorship initiative seeks to promote the benefits of apprenticeships while supporting local employers. The Chamber will represent both itself and the college during visits to businesses throughout the region. Graham White, CEO of the Chamber, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We are delighted to partner with Lancaster & Morecambe College through this initiative. This is just the start of our collaboration with the Apprenticeship and Employer Engagement Teams.”
White emphasized that the partnership’s goal is to create more apprenticeship positions and assist local talent in building meaningful careers. He added, “Partnerships like this make a real difference to both employers and young people.”
Strengthening Skills Development
The collaboration underscores a mutual commitment to developing future talent and enhancing the local economy. Jayne Roper, apprenticeship manager at Lancaster & Morecambe College, highlighted the importance of this partnership for their Apprenticeship Team. She noted, “Having the chamber’s support helps raise awareness of apprenticeship opportunities while reinforcing the strong connection between the college and the local business community.”
The partnership aims to provide valuable resources to both businesses and aspiring apprentices. By working together, the college and the Chamber of Commerce are set to empower local businesses, expand apprenticeship opportunities, and ultimately contribute to the economic growth of the Lancaster and Morecambe area.
This initiative is expected to pave the way for more young people to gain practical experience and valuable skills, connecting them with employers who can provide career pathways. The collaboration aligns with broader efforts to bolster workforce development and create a sustainable future for the regional economy.
