Heatherton Holiday Park Expansion Receives Approval for Changes
Amendments to the expansion of Heatherton’s holiday park near Tenby have received official approval. The Pembrokeshire County Council’s planning committee endorsed the changes during a meeting in November 2025. The application, submitted by Lewis Davies, sought modifications to a previously granted scheme that allows for the addition of 20 lodges at Florence Springs, part of the Heatherton World of Activities complex.
The original proposal, which included a manager’s dwelling, a linked meet-and-greet office, and the creation of an amenity lake, was approved by the full council in late 2021. This decision came despite earlier recommendations from council officers to refuse the application. At the latest committee meeting, a report highlighted that construction had begun on the manager’s dwelling, with the ground floor block work largely completed. However, construction has since halted, leading to the need for the current amendments.
The proposed changes involve minor adjustments to the approved design of the manager’s dwelling. Specifically, the plan includes raising the eaves and ridge height by 500 mm, adding an internal covered balcony to the north-west elevation, and making slight alterations to the windows and cladding. During the meeting, Davies explained that these “slight design changes” aimed to optimize the previously approved application.
Support for the amendments came from local representatives, including Cllr Rhys Jordan, who described the applicants as “a well-known family who provide an excellent year-round tourism facility.” The committee’s approval was moved by Cllr Brian Hall, who emphasized the busy nature of the facility, and was seconded by Cllr Chris Williams. The decision was met with unanimous backing from all committee members.
This expansion aims to enhance the offerings at Heatherton, which has become a popular destination for tourists. The approval of these amendments is expected to facilitate further development in the area, contributing positively to the local economy and tourism sector.
