More than £3 million has been allocated to refurbishing pubs across Suffolk throughout 2025. The investment by Greene King aims to enhance community engagement and create additional job opportunities. This initiative encompasses major upgrades to eight pubs, significantly improving their facilities and customer experience.

Among the notable establishments receiving attention is The Greengage, located on Tollgate Lane, and The Fox on Eastgate Street in Bury St Edmunds. Both venues underwent substantial six-figure renovations. The Fox has recently reopened, following its transformation into a modern community hub.

Another significant refurbishment took place at The Half Moon in Mildenhall. This pub reopened as part of the Hive Pub franchise during the summer, showcasing a revitalized outdoor area and an updated sports section. Similarly, The Royal George in Ipswich relaunched in April, focusing on enhancing its dining and sports facilities. The Grosvenor in Ranelagh Road, Felixstowe, reopened on November 29, further contributing to the revitalization effort.

Nick Mackenzie, the Chief Executive of Greene King, emphasized the broader impact of this investment. He stated, “Investing in our Suffolk pubs is about much more than refurbishing buildings; it’s about strengthening the communities that have been a key part of Greene King’s journey for more than two centuries.”

Mackenzie continued, “We’re pleased to announce that we have invested over £3 million in our pubs in Suffolk this year, which is part of a wider programme of activity to strengthen our offering and deliver outstanding experiences in pubs across the country.” He highlighted the essential role that pubs play in fostering community connections and job creation, while also providing safe and welcoming environments for individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Additional pubs benefiting from this investment include the Man on the Moon and Cock & Pye in Ipswich, as well as The Crown in Framlingham. The investment is part of a larger strategy by Greene King, which is also constructing a new £40 million brewery at Suffolk Park in Rougham, set to open in 2027.

By continuing to enhance and protect these cherished spaces, Greene King aims to ensure they remain vibrant community hubs for generations to come, deepening their commitment to the people of Suffolk and the unique character of their pubs.
