£150 Energy Credit for DWP Benefit Recipients in February
Individuals receiving certain benefits from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will automatically receive a £150 credit to help with energy costs in February 2026. This initiative is part of the Warm Home Discount scheme aimed at supporting those who may struggle to pay their energy bills during the colder months.
The Warm Home Discount provides a one-off payment of £150 annually to eligible recipients. Those in Core Group 1, which includes individuals receiving the guaranteed portion of Pension Credit, do not need to apply to receive this benefit. In Core Group 2, eligibility extends to those receiving Income Support, Income-based Jobseekers Allowance, Income-related Employment and Support Allowance, Housing Benefit, Universal Credit, and Pension Credit Savings Credit (PCSC).
For customers who pay their energy bills by Direct Debit or upon receipt of the bill, the £150 will be credited directly to their energy account. Energy providers, such as Utilita, have stated that this credit will be reflected on bills issued in February, which will cover usage from January.
If customers do not see this credit on their bill after February, they are encouraged to contact Utilita for assistance. Prepaid customers without a smart meter will receive energy vouchers totaling £150. If these vouchers are not received by the end of the scheme year on March 31, 2026, customers should reach out to Utilita for further support.
It is crucial for customers to ensure that their personal details are current with their energy provider. In particular, the name on their account must match the records held by the DWP. Any changes to a name or discrepancies should be reported to both Utilita and the DWP promptly to avoid any interruptions in payment.
Utilita advises customers to call 03303337 442 for name updates or to make other changes to their records. For inquiries regarding DWP-related matters, customers can contact the department at 0800 030 9322 from October 27, 2025. Additional questions can be addressed through Utilita’s Live Chat service.
This initiative not only aims to alleviate the financial burdens of energy costs for vulnerable groups but also emphasizes the importance of maintaining up-to-date records with both energy providers and government agencies.
