Joanna Page, best known for her role as Stacey in the acclaimed British sitcom Gavin and Stacey, has opened up about her unconventional writing process for her upcoming autobiography, titled Lush. Set to be released on September 25, 2023, Page’s journey to write the book has been anything but typical.

In an interview with the Mirror, the 48-year-old actress described how she sought out quiet spaces to write, away from her bustling household that includes four children and her husband. Initially, she would retreat to her garage in search of solitude. However, she quickly found that this was not as effective as she hoped. “My husband would say, ‘I’ll look after all of them,’ but that apparently involves him popping in every five minutes to ask me something,” Page recounted.

As distractions continued to disrupt her writing, Page began to explore alternative locations. She started visiting car parks late at night, attempting to find a peaceful environment to focus on her work. “I’d sit there in my car trying to get it done until I thought, ‘This is getting a bit dodgy’ – or maybe a bit dogging-y – so I’d go back and park,” she shared.

Page’s humorous reflection on her writing process highlights the challenges many face when balancing creative endeavors with family life. Her experience brings to mind scenes from her own show, where life’s absurdities often take center stage.

With Lush, readers can expect an engaging insight into Page’s life and career, enriched by her distinctive voice and experiences. As the release date approaches, anticipation builds for what promises to be an entertaining and heartfelt read.

As Page navigates motherhood, career, and the complexities of writing, her journey serves as an inspiration to many who juggle similar responsibilities. The upcoming autobiography is sure to resonate with fans of Gavin and Stacey and new readers alike.
