Kerry Katona Opens Up About Heartbreak on Celebs Go Dating

Dr. Tara Suwinyattichaiporn, an agent on the reality show Celebs Go Dating, recently shared her emotional experience after filming a poignant conversation with singer Kerry Katona. The Atomic Kitten star, aged 44, is seeking love once again on the E4 programme, following the end of her six-year relationship with former partner Ryan Mahoney.
During a heartfelt discussion with relationship experts Anna Williamson and Dr. Tara, Katona opened up about her struggles after her separation from Mahoney last year. She expressed her feelings of neglect, stating, “We were arguing quite a lot, because he wasn’t there for me emotionally, and that used to really get to me.” Katona emphasized the importance of small gestures in a relationship, noting, “It’s the little things I want. I don’t want diamond rings; it’s the little things.”
The conversation took an emotional turn as Katona reflected on her past relationships and the challenges she has faced. “I never had anyone to look after me. I’ve had to be my own hero, which I’m really proud of, but yeah, I struggle with that.” Her vulnerability resonated with both Dr. Tara and Anna, who noted the impact of her words.
Dr. Tara described the experience as deeply moving, revealing, “You can tell she’s gone through a lot as a celebrity. It was very emotional. I actually had tears in my eyes after that session.” She added, “No one in this world should have to go through so much trauma, but yet look at her, and you can’t even tell. It’s incredible how she’s overcome all these things and still remains positive and romantically open.”
Kerry Katona’s romantic history includes three marriages, beginning with her union to Brian McFadden in 2004, followed by Mark Croft from 2007 to 2011, and most recently George Kay from 2014 to 2017. She has five children—daughters Molly and Lilly with McFadden, son Maxwell and daughter Heidi with Croft, and youngest daughter Dylan-Jorge with Kay.
Despite her busy family life, Katona admitted to feeling lonely. In recent episodes of Celebs Go Dating, she confided, “I do get lonely. I wanted someone to be there for me. I’ve got my kids, and I love being at home with my kids, but it is lonely.” She expressed a longing for connection and the desire to share her day-to-day experiences with a partner, stating, “I miss ‘Hiya babe, guess what I’ve been up to today?’ But I don’t want to put myself out there to be rejected again.”
Kerry’s candid reflections showcase the emotional complexities of navigating love and relationships, particularly in the public eye. Celebs Go Dating airs from Monday to Thursday at 21:00 on E4, offering viewers a glimpse into the reality of seeking romance amid personal struggles.
