The Cave, an iconic music venue in Paisley, Scotland, has announced its impending closure after ten years of hosting live music events. The venue will shut its doors for the final time on September 13, 2023, leaving staff and patrons heartbroken over the loss of a beloved local hub.

In a heartfelt statement shared on social media, the venue reflected on its storied journey. “What a bloody journey it has been! We have had highs, lows, and even COVID thrown into the mix. But what a blast,” the post read. The team expressed deep gratitude towards the hundreds of bands that have performed there and the loyal patrons who supported the venue over the years.

The Cave became a cornerstone of the local music scene, celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere and live performances. It fostered a strong community, with many locals sharing their fond memories. Marilyn Buchanan, a regular at the venue, commented, “Paisley will be a sadder place without you. Times spent in the Cave are times well spent.” Another patron, Steven Lavery, described it as one of his favorite venues throughout his singing career.

The announcement of the closure follows a recent property auction, where The Cave was listed with a guide price of £80,000. Auction House Scotland, the firm handling the auction, highlighted the venue’s distinctive interior and strong reputation for live music events as key selling points. Mandi Cooper, managing director of Auction House Scotland, noted, “Whether you’re looking to open a lively music venue, launch a new hospitality concept, or invest in a well-positioned commercial unit, The Cave Bar offers excellent potential in one of Scotland’s fastest-growing town centres.”

As the closure date approaches, staff have promised a memorable send-off, hinting at a special event on the final night. They encouraged patrons to continue supporting live music, stating, “Promise us one thing, folks. KEEP MUSIC LIVE.”

While the closure marks the end of an era for The Cave, the impact it has had on the local community and the music scene will be felt for years to come. The venue’s team is committed to celebrating its legacy in the weeks ahead, inviting all to join in for a final farewell.
