Genow Secures €1.65 Million to Tackle Corporate Knowledge Gaps

Darmstadt-based startup Genow has successfully raised €1.65 million in seed funding to address the challenges of corporate knowledge fragmentation. The funding aims to enhance Genow’s platform, which assists organizations in managing their internal knowledge more effectively. This investment round was led by High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) and saw participation from BMH and notable angel investors including Markus Becker, Sebastian Mönnich, and Dr. Mario Lenz.
The significance of this funding is underscored by the insights of Sara Jourdan, CEO and co-founder of Genow. She noted, “Knowledge management remains one of the biggest hurdles to successful processes and decisions.” According to her, employees often spend between 20% to 30% of their workday searching for information across unstructured data sets.
Development and Vision for Wingman
Founded in 2023 as a spin-off from TU Darmstadt, Genow was established by a team that includes Jourdan, Dr. Timo Koppe, the Chief Technology Officer with expertise in information systems and manufacturing, and product lead Adrian Glauben. Their collective experience revealed that knowledge management is a pervasive issue across various industries, with employees frequently struggling to locate essential information dispersed across multiple platforms.
Genow’s solution is the Wingman platform, designed to consolidate knowledge from different sources into a single, accessible interface. This platform is already being utilized by significant international enterprises, transforming how organizations access and leverage their internal knowledge.
What sets Wingman apart is its ability to extract data from various systems while enriching it with company-specific context. This allows organizations to provide accurate responses to inquiries while pinpointing knowledge gaps. The platform can be tailored for different departments like HR, sales, compliance, and customer service. It can operate as a cloud service or be implemented within a company’s private cloud, offering flexibility and security.
Jourdan elaborated on Wingman’s capabilities, stating, “In practice, this means knowledge from different sources can be connected and understood in context, creating a unified knowledge layer across the organisation.”
Future Plans and Commitment to Diversity
Looking ahead, Genow intends to scale its technology and expand its customer base internationally over the next three to five years. A significant milestone is the upcoming launch of the Agent Suite, designed to facilitate the configuration and scaling of specialized Knowledge Agents tailored to existing data systems. The company is also enhancing its data integration capabilities to ensure Wingman remains a flexible and precise solution for enterprise knowledge operations.
On the topic of building company culture, Jourdan emphasizes the importance of diversity within the technology sector. She expressed concern over the low representation of women in technical and leadership roles, advocating for the promotion of female talent at Genow. “I have set as a personal goal at Genow to actively promote female talent, not only in tech and engineering roles but also in leadership positions,” she stated.
Jourdan encourages women entering the tech field to defy stereotypes and embrace their unique paths. “In the startup world, it is often decisive to deviate from the average, and many women in tech bring this ability to trust their individual journeys,” she added.
With this new funding, Genow is poised to make significant strides in improving corporate knowledge management, ultimately enhancing productivity and decision-making processes for businesses across Europe and beyond.
