A woman was assaulted by a family on a flight from Shenzhen to Dalian after she raised concerns about a child repeatedly kicking her seat. The incident occurred on August 7, 2023, during China Southern Airlines flight CZ6164, and has since drawn widespread attention due to the troubling nature of the confrontation.

Footage of the event shows the woman, identified as a passenger on the nearly four-hour flight, being surrounded by the family after she expressed her discomfort. Witnesses reported that the child had been kicking her seat persistently, despite her requests for the family to address the behavior. In response to her complaint, family members allegedly argued that she should demonstrate more understanding, emphasizing that “he’s only a child.”

The situation escalated when the boy reportedly bumped into the woman while she was walking down the aisle, causing her headphones to fall to the floor. In the video, she can be heard shouting for the police to be called, as well as expressing that the family was going “too far.” A family member is heard insisting that the woman should be more empathetic to the child’s actions.

According to reports, the boy’s older sister and parents joined in the altercation. Witnesses noted that the father physically pushed the woman, while the mother shouted at her, and the sister allegedly pulled her hair. Other passengers and crew members attempted to intervene but were reportedly pushed aside, leaving the woman on the floor with her belongings scattered around her.

Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport confirmed the incident, which was also acknowledged by China Southern Airlines. The airline stated that crew members onboard worked to manage the situation until law enforcement was involved. The Dalian Airport Public Security Bureau has launched an investigation into the matter.

This incident comes on the heels of another disruptive flight event involving a man on Breeze Airways Flight MX704. This flight was diverted to Grand Junction Regional Airport after a passenger allegedly began attacking others while shouting racial slurs. The disruption forced the flight, which had been heading to Los Angeles from Norfolk, Virginia, to make an emergency landing.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department, the man was reportedly intoxicated and waved a skateboard while yelling at airline staff. After the situation escalated, he began hitting nearby passengers with a “waist belt.” Fellow passengers had to restrain him until the plane landed safely. Following the emergency landing, the man was taken into custody at the direction of the FBI and subsequently transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility.

Both incidents highlight the challenges airline crews face in maintaining order and safety onboard flights. As investigations continue, authorities are expected to provide further details regarding the outcomes of these confrontations.
