Reform UK Claims Three By-Election Victories Across the Country

Reform UK achieved a significant milestone by winning three council by-elections across England and Wales, marking a notable shift in local political dynamics. The party, led by Nigel Farage, overturned substantial majorities in Cannock Chase, Durham, and Llanelli, indicating growing support for its agenda as it prepares for future electoral contests.
In the Easington & Shotton ward of Durham, Reform UK managed to hold its seat, dipping only 3.5 percentage points but maintaining a commanding 26.5-point lead over the Labour Party. This victory is particularly noteworthy as it represents the first time Reform UK has successfully defended a seat it already occupies, following previous challenges in other by-elections in Durham, Nottinghamshire, and Staffordshire.
Another significant victory was secured in the Hednesford Green Heath ward on Cannock Chase council. Reform UK achieved a remarkable 25.2% swing in its favor, winning the seat from Labour with a total of 51.5% of the vote. This represents a substantial increase of 31.8 points in its previous vote share, while Labour experienced a sharp decline, dropping by 18.6 points to just 22.6%.
In addition to these victories, Reform UK also secured a second councillor in Carmarthenshire. Candidate Carmelo Colasanto garnered 43% of the vote, surpassing Plaid Cymru, which received 30%, and Labour, which managed only 23.6%. Following the win, Cllr David Thomas remarked that this achievement demonstrates a growing desire for change among constituents and signals Labour’s diminishing influence.
The party is now focusing its efforts on Wales, especially with the upcoming Senedd elections scheduled for next year. Farage and his team are optimistic about capitalizing on the momentum from these recent victories. Thomas emphasized, “The tide is turning — and this is just the beginning. Reform is rising across Wales.”
As Reform UK continues to build on its recent successes, political analysts will be closely monitoring how these victories may influence future elections and the broader political landscape in the UK. The party’s strategy appears to be resonating with voters, particularly in regions where traditional support for Labour has weakened.
