Abandoned Dog Loka Seeks Loving Home After Remarkable Recovery
A six-year-old black retriever named Loka is searching for a new home after being abandoned by her previous owners in Egypt. Rescued in a near-death state, Loka has shown remarkable resilience during her recovery, and now a charity hopes to find her a loving family in the UK.
Loka was found on the streets, left to fend for herself when her family no longer wanted her. Suffering from severe malnutrition and parasite infestations, she was close to death when Miracle’s Mission, an animal welfare organization, intervened. After months of dedicated care, Loka regained her strength and mobility, transforming her from a frail animal into a playful companion.
Miracle’s Mission highlighted the struggles Loka faced. “Having been a pet, she did not cope well and could not fend for herself,” the organization explained. “She became emaciated and infested with parasites.” Once rescued, Loka was placed in a shelter in Egypt due to the high number of abandoned retrievers in the area.
Loka’s journey continued when she was adopted by another family in Egypt. Unfortunately, after just six months, they decided to give her up, citing a change in their circumstances. This led to a cycle of abandonment that many animals face, reflecting the harsh realities of pet ownership in some regions.
Now described as a “sweet and very playful girl,” Loka thrives around people and other dogs. Miracle’s Mission is keen to find her an “active owner” who is capable of providing her with the attention and exercise she needs, ideally in a home with another pet. The organization emphasized the importance of a large, secure garden for Loka to play in, as well as opportunities for plenty of walks.
It is also noted that with proper introductions and management, Loka could potentially live harmoniously with cats. “She loves the water and her main objective in life is to play and run with like-minded dogs,” the organization stated in their appeal.
Miracle’s Mission is committed to rescuing sick, injured, and disabled animals from around the world. Their work includes not only rehoming animals but also educating the public about responsible pet ownership and the importance of neutering both pets and strays to prevent further issues of abandonment.
If you are interested in offering Loka a forever home, please reach out to Miracle’s Mission at [email protected]. By providing Loka with love and care, you can help her continue her journey from abandonment to a life filled with joy and companionship.
