Police Arrest Alleged Gang Member After Shooting Incident in Podgorica
A shooting incident in Podgorica has resulted in the arrest of Ranjen Radosav Stanišić, a 40-year-old alleged member of the Kavač criminal clan. After midnight, Stanišić arrived at the Urgent Centre seeking medical assistance for a gunshot wound to his left lower leg. The police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his injury.
According to a statement from the police, Stanišić did not provide detailed information about the incident and declined to cooperate with authorities. This lack of cooperation prompted law enforcement to take immediate action, including establishing a citywide blockade and conducting checks on multiple individuals.
During these operations, officers stopped an Audi vehicle associated with Stanišić and detained L.B., a 29-year-old Bosnian citizen. Inside the vehicle, police discovered a pistol, specifically a “Walther,” along with 15 rounds of unmarked ammunition. The weapon was seized, and L.B. was arrested on suspicion of illegal possession and carrying of firearms and explosives, following orders from the prosecutor’s office in Podgorica.
The police continue to pursue a comprehensive investigation to determine the exact location of the crime scene and gather all relevant data related to this incident.
This is not the first time Stanišić has been in legal trouble. In 2022, he was arrested for allegedly intercepting his ex-wife, who was with their minor child, threatening her, and damaging her vehicle. Additionally, he is suspected of orchestrating the arson of vehicles belonging to the newspaper “Vijesti” in 2020. Earlier that same year, he was implicated in the shooting of local resident Igor Krstović in Zeta.
Investigators have indicated that there is considerable evidence linking Stanišić to the criminal activities surrounding both the shooting incident and the arson case. As the investigation unfolds, police are working diligently to uncover the full scope of his criminal involvement and the broader implications for public safety in Podgorica.
