Spicy Snack Recalled Due to Undisclosed Milk Ingredient Risk
A recall has been issued for a spicy snack due to the presence of milk, which poses a risk to individuals with milk intolerance. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) announced the alert on its official website, identifying the affected product as the Malabar Choice Spicy Kerala Mixture, manufactured by Indo Asian Foods.
The snack, packaged in a 275g bag, contains milk ingredients that were not declared on the label, potentially endangering those with milk allergies or intolerances. Consumers are advised to refrain from consuming the product and to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund, whether or not they have a receipt.
Details of the Recall
The specific batch at risk can be identified by the code ARC 109, with a Best Before date of December 2023. Despite the recall, Indo Asian Foods has reported that no illnesses or complaints related to this product have been recorded. The company emphasized that the recall is a precautionary measure to ensure consumer safety.
Retailers have been instructed to halt sales of the product immediately. Any remaining stock must be clearly marked with “RECALLED – DO NOT USE” labels to inform customers of the recall. Indo Asian Foods expressed its apologies for any inconvenience caused and reiterated that product safety is a high priority for the company.
Consumer Guidance and Safety Measures
The FSA has provided clear guidance for consumers regarding the recall. If individuals have purchased the Malabar Choice Spicy Kerala Mixture and have a milk allergy or intolerance, they should not consume the snack. Instead, they are encouraged to return it to the store for a refund.

In situations where food safety is compromised, products may either be withdrawn from sale or recalled. This can occur due to missing or incorrect allergy labeling or other food allergy risks. The FSA plays a vital role in monitoring such risks and issuing alerts to protect consumers.
This incident highlights the importance of accurate food labeling and the need for consumers to remain vigilant about potential allergens in food products.
