Sienna Dunn Honored as Under-21 Sportswoman of the Year
Manx hockey player Sienna Dunn received the prestigious title of Under-21 Sportswoman of the Year during the 2025 Isle of Man Sports Awards held at the Villa Marina Royal Hall on March 15, 2025. This recognition highlights Dunn’s exceptional achievements in her sport over the past year, particularly her leadership role in the England under-21 hockey team.
Dunn, a former student of King William’s College who is currently pursuing her studies at Nottingham University, made significant contributions to her team. Notably, she captained the under-21 squad during the Junior World Cup in Chile last summer, demonstrating her skills and leadership on an international stage. In addition to her national duties, Dunn played a crucial role in helping her university team retain the Big Bucs National Final for the fourth consecutive year, scoring a pivotal goal in the final match held at Loughborough.
Although Dunn could not attend the awards ceremony due to her commitments outside the Isle of Man, she shared her gratitude in a pre-recorded video message. “It’s a huge honour to receive the Under-21 Sportswoman of the Year award and I’d like to thank sponsor Suntera,” she stated. Dunn expressed her appreciation for the support from Isle of Man Sport, particularly acknowledging Paul Jones for his dedication to her development as an athlete.
Reflecting on her year, Dunn highlighted her experience at the Junior World Cup as a significant milestone. “Captaining the side out at the Junior World Cup in Chile was made particularly special by my parents being able to travel and be there with me,” she noted. Looking ahead, she expressed excitement for the coming year, mentioning the prospect of participating in a European Championship during the summer of 2026.
In addition to her recent accolades, Dunn was also named to the England under-21 hockey squad for a three-match series against Ireland scheduled over the Easter period. This selection further solidifies her status as a prominent figure in the sport and showcases her ongoing potential.
Dunn’s achievements not only demonstrate her personal dedication and talent but also serve to inspire young athletes in the Isle of Man and beyond. As she continues to represent her university and country, her journey in hockey is one to watch closely in the coming years.
