Alex Horne Hints at Exciting Format Changes for Taskmaster Series
Alex Horne, the creator and co-host of the popular television show Taskmaster, has hinted at potential changes to the series format in the near future. During an appearance at the Radio Times Covers Party 2026, Horne shared that the production team is considering some intriguing tweaks that could refresh the show for its dedicated audience. While specifics remain under wraps, he expressed enthusiasm for the ideas being developed.
When asked about the possibility of introducing a “Champion of Champion of Champions” segment, Horne indicated that the team is exploring alternative concepts instead. “We’ve got something up our sleeves in the near-ish future, of doing a slightly interesting series,” he stated. The details of these changes are still confidential, but fans can anticipate a new direction that promises to enhance their viewing experience.
As Taskmaster prepares for its 21st season, Horne reflected on the longevity of the show, emphasizing the importance of maintaining enjoyment in the creative process. He noted, “Greg and I have always said we’ll stop when we’re not having fun anymore. We’re having a lot of fun at the moment, but also, there’s a bit of leave them wanting more.” This philosophy suggests that the team remains committed to delivering quality entertainment while exploring fresh ideas.
Before the anticipated changes unfold, audiences can look forward to the upcoming season, which will feature a star-studded lineup including Kumail Nanjiani, Armando Iannucci, Joel Dommett, Amy Gledhill, and Joanna Page. Horne teased that a particularly memorable moment from this season could go down in Taskmaster history. He described an incident involving Nanjiani that promises to be both revealing and entertaining. “There is a moment involving Kumail Nanjiani. I don’t want to give much away, but he gives a lot away about what he does by himself in his hotel room,” Horne added.
While no official release date for Taskmaster season 21 has been announced, it is expected to air later this year on Channel 4 and will also be available on the official Taskmaster YouTube channel for international viewers. As excitement builds, fans are encouraged to mark their calendars and prepare for a new season that promises both familiar fun and innovative twists.
