The former chief of the Podgorica Security Center, Milan Vujanović, was unable to attend a hearing of the Inquiry Committee in the Montenegrin Assembly due to health issues. The committee convened to investigate the case involving the so-called “black troikas,” which has gained significant attention in recent months.

Vujanović had been scheduled to present testimony today regarding the murder of journalist Duško Jovanović, a case he previously addressed during trials in 2005 and 2014. Unable to attend, he submitted medical documentation to the committee and expressed his willingness to participate in future hearings if his health improves, saying, “If my health condition improves, I will inform you so that the hearing can be held.”

Calls for Further Testimonies

Following Vujanović’s absence, Momčilo Leković, a member of the Inquiry Committee and MP from the Democratic Party, highlighted the implications of Vujanović’s statement. He suggested that Vujanović’s remarks were aimed at former Supreme State Prosecutor Vesna Medenica, indicating that her potential testimony could provide additional insights into the case. Leković stated, “Perhaps this will give us an opportunity to hear from her in the near future. Medenica has previously indicated that she knows a lot and has much to say.”

The proposal for Vujanović to testify was initially submitted by co-chair of the committee, Milan Knežević from the Democratic People’s Party. Knežević stated he would not be nominating additional candidates for testimony moving forward, as reported by ETV Portal.

Future Hearing Plans

In light of Vujanović’s absence, Gordan Stojović from the Europe Now Movement suggested that the committee should invite Ibrahim Čikić and Blagoje Zlatičanin to upcoming hearings. The committee agreed to extend invitations for these individuals to provide their testimonies in future sessions.

As the investigation into this high-profile case continues, the Inquiry Committee remains focused on gathering comprehensive testimonies to shed light on the events surrounding the murder of Duško Jovanović and the broader implications of the “black troikas” scandal.
