Bokelj Triumphs Over Buducnost in Dramatic 1-0 Victory
Bokelj secured a significant victory against Buducnost, winning 1-0 in the opening match of the 17th round of the Meridianbet 1. CFL. The decisive goal came from Stefan Golubovic in the 77th minute, marking the biggest win in Vladimir Savicevic‘s coaching career. The match, held in Podgorica, showcased Bokelj’s improving form under their young manager.
Bokelj entered the match as underdogs, but they demonstrated resilience and strategic prowess. This victory enhances their chances of stability in the league, especially as they had previously struggled at the bottom of the standings. Until now, Bokelj had not been able to string together more than two wins in a row this season.
From the start, Buducnost dominated possession and attempted to create scoring opportunities with vertical passes. Despite their efforts, they failed to convert these chances into real threats against Bokelj’s goalkeeper, Spasojevic. A notable moment came when Milickovic squandered a free-kick opportunity from twenty meters, unable to surpass the wall.
Bokelj had a few chances to break the deadlock, one of which arose from a mistake by Buducnost’s Seriko, who nearly tripped over the ball. This let Bokelj regain possession, leading to a shot from Maras that lacked both power and precision. Buducnost’s best chance came in the 24th minute when they executed a promising attack. Bojovic outran the defense and delivered a low cross to Bulatovic, whose shot was expertly stopped by Spasojevic.
As the match progressed, the atmosphere intensified, with the Buducnost supporters igniting flares in celebration of the club’s 20th anniversary. The game saw interruptions due to pyrotechnics set off by the most passionate fans, which delayed the first half by a total of 50 minutes.
The second half began with Bokelj attempting to counter-attack, but Vusurovic missed a crucial one-on-one opportunity against Spasojevic. In the 64th minute, he found himself in another threatening position but hit the side netting. The Kotor-based team faced a challenging period, spending significant time in their defensive zone.
As the match neared its conclusion, Bokelj shifted their approach. A remarkable diagonal pass from Chavor set the stage for the visitors. The breakthrough came from a throw-in that caught Buducnost’s defense off guard. Golubovic found himself unmarked in the box and easily slotted the ball past Mijatovic in the 77th minute.
Buducnost attempted to regain control, but their efforts were thwarted. In the final moments, Mijatovic made a spectacular save to deny a lob attempt from Janketic, but the match ended in disappointment for Buducnost.
This victory is a turning point for Bokelj as they head into the final stretches of the autumn season with renewed confidence, while Buducnost faces scrutiny following their unexpected defeat.
