Blake Lively Achieves Legal Win as Defamation Suit Dismissed
Blake Lively celebrated a significant legal victory this week when a defamation lawsuit filed against her was dismissed by a Texas court. The lawsuit, initiated by the public relations firm Street Relations Inc. and its owner Jed Wallace, had been contested since February 2025. This dismissal clears the way for Lively to advance her own legal claims in a separate case set for trial in March 2025.
Details of the Dismissed Lawsuit
The court determined that it lacked personal jurisdiction over the matter, casting doubt on whether Texas was the appropriate venue for the case. Lively’s legal team had previously filed a complaint against Wallace and his company in connection with the film It Ends with Us, directed by Justin Baldoni. A representative for Lively expressed optimism about the outcome, stating that this decision allows her to focus on her claims against Baldoni and others involved.
“With this decision, all of the retaliatory lawsuits filed against Blake Lively by Justin Baldoni, Wayfarer Studios, and their crisis communications teams have been dismissed,” the representative told TMZ. This development is seen as a pivotal moment for Lively as she prepares for her trial in New York.
Background on the Allegations
Lively, 38, has accused Baldoni of sexual harassment, alleging various forms of misconduct during the production of It Ends with Us. The film, which was released in August 2024, achieved considerable commercial success, grossing over $148 million in the domestic box office and $350 million worldwide. Despite its financial performance, Lively’s allegations have overshadowed the film’s reception.
In her lawsuit, Lively detailed accusations against Baldoni, including body shaming and orchestrating a smear campaign to damage her reputation. She named several of Baldoni’s associates, including his company’s CEO and public relations personnel, as co-defendants.
Baldoni, in turn, filed a counterclaim seeking $400 million in damages, alleging that Lively and others had harmed his reputation through media reports, particularly an article published by The New York Times. This counterclaim was dismissed in June 2025, reflecting the court’s support for Lively’s position.
As the legal battles continue, both parties have denied all allegations made against them. The unfolding situation has drawn considerable public attention, particularly given the high-profile nature of the individuals involved and the themes of the film.
As Lively prepares for her upcoming court date, the outcome of this ongoing legal saga remains to be seen. The actress is determined to present her case, aiming for resolution in a highly publicized dispute that has captivated fans and observers alike.
