In a pivotal match for their season, SC Derbi triumphed over Krka with a score of 85-75 on November 7, 2023. This victory, following a previous loss to Igokea, was crucial for the team as they aimed to secure a place in the Top 8 phase of the ABA league. Coach Petar Mijovic had labeled the game as “do or die,” underscoring the high stakes involved.

The game commenced with both teams evenly matched in the first quarter, ending in a tie at 19-19. However, SC Derbi took control during the second quarter, thanks to a strong defensive performance and superior rebounding. By halftime, the home team had established a lead of 11 points at 44-33, largely due to a series of successful three-pointers, including four from Emir Hadzibegovic.

SC Derbi’s dominance in the first half was underscored by their rebounding statistics, where they outperformed Krka with a total of 20-9 in rebounds. The team also showcased a more efficient offensive strategy, registering six three-pointers in the first half alone.

Despite the strong start, the third quarter proved challenging for the home team. They struggled offensively, managing only 15 points while conceding 28 points to Krka. This allowed Krka, helmed by former SC Derbi coach Dejan Jakara, to take the lead by the end of the quarter at 61-59.

In the final quarter, Nikola Pavlicevic stepped up significantly, scoring nine points in a crucial two-minute stretch. His efforts helped SC Derbi regain control of the game, extending their lead to 80-71. Following a timeout called by Krka, SC Derbi continued their offensive surge, ultimately leading to a decisive 16-0 run.

Throughout the match, Emir Hadzibegovic emerged as the standout player for SC Derbi, finishing with 19 points and five rebounds. Pavlicevic contributed 15 points and six assists, while Aleksa Ilic recorded an impressive double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Zoran Vuceljic also made his mark, adding 12 points to the team’s total.

For Krka, Bejli and Maton both scored 17 points, but their efforts fell short as the team remains winless this season.

Looking ahead, SC Derbi is set to face their next challenge against a team in Dubai on November 9, 2023. This victory not only boosts their morale but also keeps their aspirations alive in the competitive landscape of the ABA league.
