Northampton Students’ Union Shines at UKCISA Awards Nominations
The Northampton Students’ Union has received significant recognition as two of its representatives have been shortlisted for prestigious awards at the UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) #WeAreInternational Awards. This event celebrates the contributions of international students and their advocates, with finalists selected from over 420 nominations submitted by 120 institutions across the UK.
Hafiz has been nominated for the Student Leader of the Year Award, acknowledging his impactful role within the Northampton Students’ Union (NSU). His leadership has been instrumental in promoting community engagement and supporting fellow students throughout their academic journeys. Additionally, the Vietnamese Student Society is vying for the Global Community Award, further underscoring the union’s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment.
Throughout the year, Hafiz has actively led initiatives that align with his values and NSU’s vision. His efforts have not only empowered students to enact positive changes but also created opportunities for meaningful connections. He organized representative socials that transformed simple gatherings into opportunities for community building, enhancing peer recognition and highlighting the vital role of student leadership.
In a statement, NSU CEO Roger Weston praised Hafiz’s contributions, saying, “Hafiz has been a consistent presence in student roundtables with senior University staff, representing NSU and our students with integrity, clarity, and a clear, consistent message.” He added that Hafiz’s ability to engage effectively in these discussions has strengthened relationships between NSU and the University of Northampton, ensuring that student voices are included in important conversations and decision-making processes.
The awards ceremony is set to take place on November 19, 2025, at the Bloomsbury Ballroom in London, where the achievements of international students will be celebrated. The recognition of both Hafiz and the Vietnamese Student Society highlights the essential contributions made by students in shaping a more inclusive university experience.
