Allison Langdon has been appointed as the host for the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, as confirmed by Channel Nine during its annual Upfronts event. The experienced journalist will lead the network’s coverage alongside James Bracey, with notable contributions from Leila McKinnon and Todd Woodbridge as part of the commentary team. In addition, Sylvia Jeffreys and Dylan Alcott will manage the morning coverage from Sydney.

The Opening Ceremony for the Winter Games will take place in Milano Cortina, Italy, on February 6, 2026, followed by the start of the Paralympics on March 6, 2026. Langdon, who has been the host of A Current Affair since January 2023, expressed enthusiasm for this new role.

Langdon’s appointment marks a significant milestone in her career, particularly following her recent acclaim. At the 2024 Logie Awards, she received the Silver Logie for Best News or Public Affairs Presenter, triumphing over notable competitors, including the ABC’s David Speers and Sarah Ferguson, and Channel Nine’s own Liz Hayes and Peter Overton. During her acceptance speech, she paid tribute to her predecessor, Tracey Grimshaw, and addressed criticisms directed at the program, stating, “The people who don’t like our show, don’t know our show.”

In her remarks, Langdon highlighted her dedication to her work, stating, “Everything we do is with heart and soul. If a story doesn’t have heart and soul, we just don’t do it.” She acknowledged the legacy of those who have previously held her position, including her father-in-law, Mike Willesee, who was instrumental in the show’s success.

Allison Langdon’s transition to this prominent sports event aligns with her career trajectory, which has seen her rise through various roles in journalism. Her commitment to delivering engaging content has resonated with audiences, setting a strong foundation for her upcoming hosting duties at the Winter Games.

As anticipation builds for the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, Langdon’s role will undoubtedly play a crucial part in bringing the excitement of the events to viewers across Australia and beyond.
