Harris Dickinson has opened up about his role as John Lennon in a groundbreaking quartet of Beatles biopics. In a recent interview with RadioTimes.com, he described the opportunity to portray the iconic musician as a “dream,” despite the inherent challenges involved in taking on such a legendary figure.

The ambitious project, directed by Sam Mendes, will feature Dickinson alongside Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr. Filming began in the summer and is expected to last up to 15 months, with all four films set for simultaneous release in April 2028.

In his remarks, Dickinson expressed both excitement and apprehension about the role. “It’s been amazing,” he said. “It’s such a unique experience to play someone of that calibre. I mean, it’s intimidating, but it’s enriching.” He emphasized the complexity of delving into the life of Lennon, stating, “I feel really lucky to go to work every day and get to, kind of, attempt to dig into who and what that is.”

The films promise to explore the individual stories of each band member while celebrating their collective legacy. The official tagline for the project describes it as “Each man has his own story, but together they are legendary.”

Despite the lengthy filming schedule, Dickinson views the commitment as part of the allure of acting. “You wanna be able to spend a good amount of time on something and get a good opportunity to really invest in it properly. That’s kind of the dream,” he remarked.

The announcement of the cast took place during a surprise appearance at CinemaCon in Las Vegas this past April. The actors engaged the audience by reciting lyrics from the Beatles’ iconic song “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” and even performed a synchronized bow reminiscent of the famous band.

In addition to his role in the Beatles films, Dickinson is currently promoting his directorial debut, Urchin, which is now showing in UK cinemas.

As the release date for the Beatles biopics approaches, anticipation continues to build for this innovative cinematic event. Fans of the band and film enthusiasts alike are eager to see how Dickinson and his co-stars bring the stories of these legendary musicians to life.
