Trump Unveils Peace Plan for Gaza, Aiming for Lasting Stability

The White House has officially released a long-anticipated peace plan for Gaza, formulated by President Donald Trump. This proposal entails Israel’s commitment to refrain from occupying or annexing Gaza, with the primary goal of establishing a “deradicalized zone free of terror” that would not threaten its neighbors.

Under the plan, hostilities would cease immediately if both parties agree, leading to the withdrawal of Israeli forces, the release of hostages, and a comprehensive reconstruction effort in Gaza under international supervision. Following a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump expressed optimism that this agreement could usher in “eternal peace in the Middle East,” as reported by Klix. Netanyahu has already voiced his support for the plan, leaving Hamas’s response as the next crucial step.

The White House’s proposal includes several key points, similar to those unofficially released over the weekend. Gaza is to be transformed into a deradicalized area, focusing on the welfare of its people who have endured significant hardship. Should both sides accept the proposal, hostilities would cease immediately. Israeli forces would withdraw to an agreed line to facilitate the release of hostages, while all military operations, including airstrikes, would be halted.

Within 72 hours of Israel publicly accepting the agreement, all hostages, both living and deceased, will be returned. In exchange for the return of remains of Israeli hostages, Israel will release 250 prisoners serving life sentences and 1,700 Palestinians detained after October 7, 2023, including women and children.

Once all hostages are released, Hamas members who commit to peaceful coexistence and disarmament will receive amnesty. Those wishing to leave Gaza will be granted safe passage to countries willing to accept them. Following the agreement’s acceptance, humanitarian aid is set to enter Gaza immediately.

The plan outlines that aid distribution will occur independently through organizations such as the United Nations and the Red Crescent, ensuring no interference from either party. The Rafah crossing will operate under the same mechanisms agreed upon in the humanitarian aid agreement of January 19, 2025.

A transitional Palestinian committee, composed of qualified Palestinians and international experts, will oversee the daily functioning of public services in Gaza. This committee will operate under the supervision of a new international body called the “Committee for Peace,” chaired by President Trump along with other leaders, including former Prime Minister Tony Blair. This body will establish the framework for Gaza’s reconstruction financing until the Palestinian Authority completes its reform agenda.

Trump’s economic development plan aims to revitalize Gaza by involving experts who have previously developed successful modern cities in the region. Numerous international investment proposals will be evaluated to align security and governance frameworks to attract investments that create jobs and opportunities.

A special economic zone with preferential tariffs and access rates will be negotiated with participating countries. No one will be forced to leave Gaza, and those wishing to depart may do so with the option to return at their discretion.

Hamas and other factions commit to having no role in Gaza’s governance, neither directly nor indirectly. All military infrastructure, including tunnels and weapons manufacturing facilities, will be destroyed and not rebuilt. The demilitarization process will be monitored by independent observers, ensuring compliance with disarmament agreements through a coordinated program supervised by international entities.

The new Gaza will focus on building a prosperous economy and peaceful coexistence with its neighbors. Regional partners will guarantee that Hamas and other factions adhere to their commitments, ensuring Gaza does not pose a threat to its citizens or neighboring states.

The United States, in collaboration with Arab and international partners, will establish temporary International Stabilization Forces (ISF) to be deployed in Gaza. The ISF will train and support vetted Palestinian police forces and work alongside Jordan and Egypt, leveraging their extensive experience in security matters. These forces will serve as a long-term solution for internal security, collaborating with Israel and Egypt to secure border areas and facilitate the flow of goods for reconstruction.

As the ISF establishes control and stability, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will gradually withdraw based on agreed benchmarks related to demilitarization, ensuring a secure Gaza that no longer threatens Israel or its neighbors. The IDF will cede territory to the ISF in coordination with the transitional authority, maintaining a security perimeter until Gaza is sufficiently safeguarded from future terrorist threats.

Should Hamas reject or delay this proposal, the aforementioned provisions, including expanded humanitarian assistance, will be implemented in areas free of terror that the IDF transfers to the ISF. An interfaith dialogue will be initiated, founded on principles of tolerance and peaceful coexistence, aiming to shift perceptions and narratives among Palestinians and Israelis.

As Gaza’s reconstruction progresses and the Palestinian Authority’s reform program is consistently implemented, conditions may finally be created for a credible pathway toward Palestinian self-determination and statehood, reflecting the aspirations of the Palestinian people. The United States will facilitate dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians to negotiate a political perspective for a peaceful and prosperous coexistence.
