Montenegro’s National Team Prepares for Upcoming Challenges

The Montenegro National Football Team will compete in Group C2 of the UEFA Nations League, alongside Armenia, Cyprus, and the winner of the play-off between Latvia and Gibraltar. The draw for the tournament took place in Brussels, where Montenegro’s head coach, Mirko Vučić, expressed optimism about the upcoming matches.

Following the draw, Vučić emphasized the team’s immediate focus, stating, “When the time comes for the Nations League, we will think about it, because we are not in a situation to turn our attention to it now; we need to go from match to match.” This approach highlights the team’s commitment to preparation and performance in the short term.

Montenegro has scheduled two friendly matches in March against Andorra and Slovenia, providing crucial opportunities to refine their strategy. Vučić noted the importance of these encounters, stating, “These four games should be utilized in the right way. Since I became the coach, we have discussed the need to lower our heads, work hard, and move in the same direction, because only then can we progress and hope to achieve significant results.”

The Nations League will commence in September and conclude in November, with each team playing six matches—three at home and three away against their group rivals. The group winner will secure direct promotion to League B, as well as a place in the play-off for EURO 2028, scheduled to take place at the end of March next year.
