Pret A Manger has unveiled its highly anticipated Christmas menu, featuring a range of festive offerings designed to satisfy seasonal cravings. Among the highlights are the Pigs in Blankets Hot Roll, Porchetta & Sage Baguette, and the beloved Christmas Lunch Sandwich, which continues to be a customer favourite.

The new menu boasts an impressive variety of items, including the Truffle & Brie Toastie, Frosted Mint Hot Chocolate, and a Gingerbread Latte. Additionally, customers can enjoy options like the Festive Truffle Pasta Bake, Hog Roast Macaroni & Cheese, and even a Christmas Tiffin. Each menu item has been crafted to embody the flavours and spirit of the holiday season.

Menu Highlights and Taste Test

As a food enthusiast, I ventured to my local Pret A Manger to sample several offerings from the festive menu. Starting with the Pigs in Blankets Hot Roll, which is described as “served warm in a ciabatta roll with caramelised onion chutney and a touch of mustard mayo,” the initial impressions were promising. The roll was warm, and the aroma of pork was enticing. The sweetness of the onion chutney complemented the meat well, although the mustard mayo was not particularly noticeable. Overall, it provided a hearty start to my festive tasting.

Next up was the Porchetta & Sage Baguette, crafted with slices of porchetta seasoned with apple and rosemary. This baguette stood out with its generous filling of salty pork and dried cranberries, which added a delightful sweetness. The apple introduced a refreshing element that enhanced the overall experience.

Feeling satisfied but eager for something sweet, I opted for the Frosted Mint Hot Chocolate. For fans of chocolate and mint, this drink offers a delightful combination. Although it leaned towards sweetness, which may not appeal to everyone, it delivered a rich chocolatey experience.

Exploring More Festive Flavours

Unfortunately, my attempt to sample the Christmas Tiffin was thwarted as it was sold out. I then tried the Truffle & Brie Toastie. While it was enjoyable, it lacked the anticipated truffle flavour, coming across more as a rich Brie sandwich.

Concluding my tasting journey was the Christmas Lunch Sandwich, which I saved for last based on its reputation. Described as “a classic that wraps up all the joy of Christmas in one bite,” it includes British turkey, port and orange cranberry sauce, herby pork stuffing, and crispy onions. Despite initial doubts about its appearance, the sandwich proved to be delightful. The turkey was thick and satisfying, while the cranberry sauce added a luxurious richness.

Reflecting on the entire menu, it is evident that Pret A Manger has successfully encapsulated the essence of Christmas in their offerings. The variety of flavours and generous portions ensure that customers will find something to enjoy during the festive season. Although the menu may not constitute fine dining, it provides a satisfying seasonal experience for those seeking a festive treat.
