The town of Niksic, Montenegro, has officially launched the “Home of the Digital Revolution,” a significant step towards a more technologically advanced future. In collaboration with the innovative entrepreneurial center Tehnopolis, the telecommunications company One showcased a test environment that achieved record data transfer speeds of nearly 10 Gbps. This impressive milestone demonstrates the capabilities of the new 5.5G technology and its potential impact on the digital landscape of Montenegro.

During the opening event, researchers, entrepreneurs, and startup leaders exchanged ideas, highlighting the role of technology as more than just a tool but as a catalyst for innovation. The environment fostered creativity and collaboration, enabling concepts to evolve into tangible solutions. Branko Mitrović, the Executive Director of One Montenegro, emphasized the significance of this initiative, stating, “The Home of the Digital Revolution carries a great name but an even greater mission—to place Niksic and Montenegro on the map of the digital future.”

The test conducted at the launch recorded a remarkable data transfer speed of 9.7 Gbps, the highest achievement documented in Montenegro to date. This result reflects the potential of the 5.5G network, which offers significantly faster speeds compared to previous generations, minimal latency, and enhanced connectivity for numerous devices.

Transforming Niksic into a Digital Hub

Đorđije Malović, the Director of Tehnopolis, remarked that the opening of the “Digital Home of Revolution” represents a pivotal opportunity for Niksic to become a center of the new digital era. “This is not just a space; it is a living laboratory of the future where youth, startups, and researchers will have the chance to test and develop ideas on the most advanced network,” Malović stated. He expressed optimism that innovations stemming from Niksic will contribute to transforming Montenegro and the surrounding region.

For One, the testing of 5.5G technology marks a crucial advancement towards the future. Mitrović pointed out that One’s network has been recognized as the best in Montenegro by the independent international organization Umlaut for two consecutive years. “The stability we offer is a result of our expertise and substantial investments in the network. With the record speeds we achieved in Niksic, we reaffirm that we are ready for a new era of digital development,” he added.

By establishing a testing environment for the 5.5G network in the Home of the Digital Revolution and showcasing these record speeds, One reiterates its commitment to innovation and its vision of a digital Montenegro—a country where technology acts as a driver of development and an improved quality of life for all citizens.
